Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Yes I am an ex Navy man and proud to say so. The Navy showed me what it takes to be a man. Also I like to say my hats off to all you that were still are. Let me add this, I extend my hand out to all others in the Forum from a new member.

Nope. Not ex-Navy, nor current.

Did you guys watch the PBS special titles "Carrier"? If so, and if you have Carrier experience, what did you think of it?

1957 - 1959 National Service RN - HMS Scarborough: Operation Grapple and the Cod War. Kept my High School students entertained for years with my "Navy Stories".

Automerged Post:
Hi Fred, your memories strike a note, my dad was also at Okinawa and in Tokyo Harbour for the signing, but as part of the British Pacific Fleet on HMS Quality, destroyer. Couldn't talk about it till he was in his 80's it was so traumatic. Have so official photos of, I believe, USS Hornet being attacked by kamikaze, taken from Dad's ship.
Stay afloat!

Michael
It's a small world. The USS Hornet was in our Task Group. I have many memories of that time. Some good and some bad fortunately the good far outnumber the bad so I don't have any problems discussing that period. Can you see the numbers on the ship, rhe Hornet was CV-12. Is your father still with you. If so give him my regards.
Fred
