First of all...Welcome Aboard!
You can navigate troughout the site using the links on the header above. This header will appear on every page within the Forum. Welcome to our new home. This Forum is for both newbies and old salts, wood, plastic, resin, pond, bottle, etc, etc Modelers. If it has to do with water and it's a model, you're in the right place. We even discuss related subjects like movies and books about nautical life. Move around the site and try out the different features. We try to establish a friendly place where fellow hobbyists can exchange ideas, discuss techniques, talk about modeling problems, and in general - enjoy our mutual hobby of handcrafting model ships and boats. We also value your privacy. Please see our Privacy Statement. Please read the FAQ and the Features pages. Non members can request more information at: Contact the Webmaster (open in a blank window) Forum Spammers and/or Abusers: A warning? Very simple, spammers and abusers WILL NOT be tolerated! Ads, offensive material, and other 'garbage' will not be tolerated! Please, let's keep on the subject, Model Ships and related material. This is not a forum to dicuss politics or other subjects. Please have respect for the other members. Logging In: The database keeps track of your username while in the shipmodeling.net site (session cookie, not a tracking cookie), but will not automatically log you in unless you have Cookies Enabled (allow your Browser to accept cookies from this site), and have your Browser remember your username and password. Most Browsers will have a pop up screen asking you if you want it to Remember the name and password. If you lose your password , just click the link under the login window. You will shortly be sent a new Reset password. You can, at any time, change your password yourself on your profile page.Submitting material for publication: The header and footer menus have links to additional Forum pages. If a member would like to submit material for the Article, Shop Note or Resource Pages, please contact the Forum Editor: wirewolf1947 (look on the Memberlist). Also see the Guidelines for submitting Materials for Publication. Maintenance and Backups: From time to time the board will be shut down for maintenance and for backing up of the databases. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience, but will occur for very short periods of time. Moderators (Master-at-Arms): This Forum is monitored by Moderators. Any material that is deemed to be unfit for this forum will be edited/deleted by a Moderator. Any member who consistantly abuses the forum will be reported to the Site Administrator, who has the power to remove and/or ban the abusive member. The site uses a Word Content filter. It looks for certain words in either postings or usernames and will not allow them to be posted. The forum uses a three strike rule. An abuser will receive three warnings about posting inappropiate material from a moderator. Three strikes and you're out! You will be reported to the Site Administrator for possible permanent banning. Moderators can not be online 24 hours a day. If a member sees any type of the above material, look for the Report a Post link. You can send a Message to report an offensive post, or you can contact me or one of the Moderators. At the bottom of your Profile options page, just click the Show Gallery button. A page will open up showing the first selection, 'Flags_Large'. From the drop down list above you can view other avatar pages. There are hundreds to choose from. You can change your choice at ant time. If the flag of your country is not on the list, I apologize. I have tried to include as many as I could think of. If you want your countrys' flag added, email or PM me, and the flag will be installed. You will notice Anchors next to a members' name in a post. These are just a ranking system to show the status of members. Emoticons: Or Smileys. What are they? It's not easy some times to convey a certain feeling or emotion in a text message. That's what the Smileys are for. You'll see a link for an assortment of smilies you can use on the message posting and message reply screens. They are an excellent way to express your feelings without hurting or insulting another members' feelings. Please use them. External Links (Resource Page, or in Postings): The Forum has no commercial or professional association with any link to an external sites. The Forum can not guarantee any members' dealings with these sites (as to products and/or services offered). They are provided only as a means for members to acquire more information and knowledge about the relative subject matter. Spamming and /or Ads: The Forum does not allow the posting of Spam or the direct posting of advertisements. This is a gray area. A member may post a suggestion or a link for, let's say, a good Ship Modeling Book listed on Amazon.com. or some other commercial site. The rule is: If the suggestion or link deals directly with subject matter related to our hobby, that's fine. But if it is posted with no relationship and is just a general plug for a product(s) and/or services, it will be deleted and the posting member will be notified. Posting of Copyrighted Material: If a member posts material known to be Copyrighted, then they must acknowledge that fact. And they must be sure that the copyrighted author has given permission for it's release. Again, this is a gray area. The Internet is loaded with tons of published material. Some copyrighted, most is not. If you see material that you may want to reprint to this forum, please check first to see if it has a Copyright, and what the Copyright entails. Member participation: We encourage new members to participate in an active and contributing way, though we understand that not all members want to post messages to the forum. However, we would like members to at least log in occasionally and visit. You may just find an interesting topic or subject for which you would like to post a reply. Or, if you are an experienced modeler, you may have an answer to a beginning modelers' question. More active member contribution benefits every body. Calendar: Members' birthdays, Holidays, and events related to Ship Modeling can be displayed on the Ships Calendar (Members only) Members only Forum: We have a forum that can not viewed or read by visitors. Members can post messages that may not be related to ship modeling, but deal with more general subjects. The same forum rules apply to this Members Only Forum. Photo Gallery: New feature added. This Photo Gallery is for members to post photos of their modeling projects and/or images of their favorite ship/boat models. You can read the Photo Gallery FAQ for more information. Again, welcome and enjoy the Forum. Let's have a free exchange of ideas about a hobby we all enjoy, Model Ships and related maritime subjects. We may not have all the answers, but we'll certainly try to help you find one. One thing to remember, our members come from all around the world in many different time zones. They could be online at varying times. So if you post a question So, if you're not a member yet and would like to join us, just visit the Register link on the header menu, and sign up.
