Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Default Using your computer to build

I have my computer in the same room where I build my ships and wanted to give a tip I have found to be very useful. I use my digital camera to take shots of all instructions so I can then display them on the computer screen. One big advantage for me is that I can zoom in and enlarge the shot so I can see details. Another is by zooming, I can make the plans the same size as the item I'm working on. I have saved many pictures of the ship I'm working on and sometimes I'll put up 2 windows to show different angles of the item in question. The instruction booklet has very small print and if your eyes are getting old like mine, you will definately like being able to make the print larger.
If you try it, hope you like it...

Excellent point...I use my pc similar to what you describe, I also bring up an existing build (when available) to help understand questionable or confusing instructions.
thanks for posting

Thanks guys, what a great idea. I will definitely try this in the future. Right now, I have plans and pictures and instructions scattered around the shop. Having them in one place and upright would make things a bit easier.

Hi Jim.
Although I do not use the computer in the same way I have found the web most helpful. I am about to begin HMY. Royal Caroline and the pictures on the Google website are excellent. There is a lot of information out there. The Panart kit is very good but why do most of the kits have drawings printed on both sides of the sheet? If, like me, you want to 'Bluetack' a drawing to the wall then you can't do it! Once again, the ship is spoiled for a pennywoth of tar. Good luck. Jonathan.
