While she was a indeed a yacht, it is much more descriptively accurate to call her a schooner. ;0)
I was in San Francisco this past summer, and saw the wharf that is being renovated for the race as we do drove by to fishermans wharf. Looks like a hig tech airpoart with all sorts or colors. The new "cats" look more like ice racing boats then sail boats. I miss the 12 meter rule. I glimpsed the America sailing out in the harbor, but she was headed in another direction, and I never got closer then to recognize her shape and sails from afar. Bummer. |
