Hope this is the right place. Still fairly new to these kits....I'm building the above mentioned kit and have found that the blocks described and depicted in the plans are creating some self-imposed confusion. Does anyone out there have a hint/tip as to which blocks correlate with the plans? For example, #7016 are the smaller blocks but when I get to #7032 and #7034 the ambiguity is there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am working on the same kit but haven't gotten to the rigging yet. Looking at the plans though, it looks like #7032 is a 5mm triple block and #7034 is a 7mm triple. However, I see one part (295) that is labeled #7034 but is a a 7 mm single, which is shown as #7019 on another sheet. Is this the ambiguity you mentioned or is there something I am missing? I would just go with the part description and not worry about the catalog numbers. I am not actually at the model, so I can't tell if they have indeed supplied all of these sizes of blocks.

Thanks for quick response. The kit indicates the following:
7016, 7017, 7019, 7023, 7026, 7032 and 7034. To your point, I don't think they're all in the kit which is where I scratch my head wondering what's what. For instance, 7016 is easy (small single block), 7019 - not a clue. Any direction or sketch/picture would be great. Thx |

I'll take a look tonight and see what came with the kit.

Tom,
I'm crushed. I feel like I've been reading a book and just as the climax comes I discover that the last chapter is missing and in order to find out what happened you have to write to the author. So tell me what happened, I'm dying of suspense. Fred |

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought this would be too specific for the group, having to do with specific part numbers. Anyway, the kit came with the following blocks:
7016 4 mm S - 80 provided in kit 7023 4mm D - 1 7017 5mm S - 50 7032 5mm T - 2 7019 7mm S - 4 7026 7mm D - 4 7034 7mm T - 4 The plans show part numbers 252 and 253 as 5mm T blocks, but these are used as the hearts for the mizzen stay. Same with parts 268 and 269 as 7mm T blocks, used as hearts for the main stay. I think the confusion came in that for parts 295 and 296 it lists as 7mm S blocks, but has the 7034 catalog number, so I believe they should be 7mm T blocks, used as hearts for the fore stay. There is a figure that shows triple blocks used on all three stays instead of hearts. |

Tom.... thanks very much. Helped a great deal. I was missing 7019 and 7026. I had a feeling the plans were incorrect and your comments cleared things up. On another point. what are your intentions with the standing rigging? I was under impression this was typically a black thread. Kits does not include black so wondering what you'd sugegst. Thx again.

Tom:
I, like fred, was waiting for the answer, thanks. As to blocks, a whole new thread could be started: how to make them, various ways to rig them, etc. I don't think any kit ever supplies enough blocks for the proper rigging of a model. Felipe: If there is no black thread, is there dark brown? You could stain light thread with black shoe polish and wipe well.

I have large spools of black and tan nylon thread that I bought a few years ago, so I was going to substitute all of the supplied rigging line with them. I really didn't like the supplied line as it was kind of a green color.
