Default Building Hella HMS Victory

A huge project but the instructions are a real concern. Have requested abnd received new English version from Airfix but the graphics are still not as good as the French version. Anyone else experienced these problems ?

Cannot be of much help as my language is ...french. But having built both Victory and Soleil Royal, I can say that the Victory has got better instructions than the SR, especially the rigging instruction. You know the language used in the french version is pretty basic and the same words come back over and over again: so stick to it and you will be surprised after a while how much french you will learn. Besides as Heller tends to name the pieces by their number, this also should help.

Now please keep in mind that you are buildinig the crème de la crème of plastic kits, so it can't be over simplified too.

By the way, I saw in Holland a Heller Victory that had the entry ports modeled on. And I am pretty sure it came from some super-detailing kit. Couldn't speak to the chap who built her, but with a little research. I personnally would have like to medel them with the entry ports, but it took the easy way after I read an article in Scale Models that stated tha "it was not sure if there were entry ports at the time of the battle.

Thanks for the support, your right it really is the most detailed and complex plastic model around. have built a number before, spanis galleon, cutty sark and french training ship, but this takes the cake. have bought a number of books to assist in the rigging. Talk to you further as I go.

I hate digging up old posts, but just wanted to add my 2 itty bitty pennies.

I just got an email from Rita at Humbrol. They are sending me a new instruction book and looking into my thread issue. Seems the kit I got only has 2 diameters and is a bit short. Funny thing is, the instruction book that came with it only calls for 2 diameteers. When I look at the different distributors, they all say 4 diameters. Well.....Heller is on the job.

I'd hate to have to put it on eBay, but rather that than sitting on a shelf to be forgotten for years

I've got the list of recommended books and they are on the way.

I've got my fingers crossed. I want to jump on it so bad.
