New life for old cutters/pliers.. Took an old pair of cutters chopped of the tips off and one handle, Ground the inside of the long handle to suit blade drill and tap two holes for blade retaining screws. Welded a bolt to the end of the short handle and attached cutter to a 3/16 “ steel plate. The thickness of the top wood plate is dimensioned so the cutter is parallel to the cut surface. I plan on making a small plate to sandwich the blade to handle, for looks only, it works perfectly the way it is.
It cuts like a hot knife in butter. I can take apart and post pictures of details if anyone is interested in making one. |

Here is a few more pictures of the details for the homemade chopper. It took about 3 hours to make with scrap material. The can rotate on the cutting board but I find it just as easy to lay the plank on an angle and chop.
