Lightbulb This is a General Forum Posting
I've added an alternative method for member's to share files. This uploader will allow you to upload a file and let other member's to download, edit if they wish, then re-upload the file for further use. The link to this uploader is on the Member Tools Drop Down Menu located in any post.

At the top of every post:

After clicking the link (opens in a new window):

Clicking the File Info link for a given file:

How to alert other member's there is a file for sharing (In a new thread or replying to a post):

After hitting the File Share Available button:

Results in this being displayed in the post:

Hints and suggestions:
1 - Name your original file for uploading that refers to the nature of the file, like Navarones' above in the image example - "Gun C_Carriage_Specs1.xls". Easy to tell that it has something to do with Gun Carriages!
2 - When the original file uploader is satisfied with any final edit to their original, please make a final post in the thread indicating such. I can then move it if they wish to the Downloads Section so other member's can download the finished file for their use.
3 - After editing, re-upload using the same file name (the system will append the file name and date of the most recent upload)

Hope this comes in handy. You can use this as an alternative to file attachments (open in a blank window).

Cheers, John

Example (post reply):
Quote:
Don, I did some editing of the Gun file. Take a look and see what you think. John
Or (new thread):
Quote:
To all, I have a file on ship features (in a spreadsheet) if any one would like to help and eidt or add to. John
