Default Sugestions on display options

Hello all !
I have a question for the group.
I am in the final stages of building the Sonderclass sloop Fima. I have varnished the deck, stepped the mast and begun rigging the running rigging. I will not be putting sails on, as I think it will detract from the overall presentation.
But -
When I added the deck blocks for the Spinnaker sheets, I realized it looked a little dull. I want to show off the sheets and blocks, and it seems like the best way to do this is to actually set the spinnaker pole in the "flying" position and run the sheets through it ( even though no spinnaker is present )
So-
is this an acceptable thing to do ? or should I just have the spin pole stored on deck and have no spin sheets on deck at all ?
Thanks !

PS - I can't find the post about making self tailing winches from xacto blades ...but this was a fantastic suggestion. I used solid aluminum stock of a different diameter - but they look great. Thanks to whomever wrote/suggested this tip.
Doug

Doug:
I think that however you want to rig your model is the way to do it. It's not impossible that the spinnaker pole would be rigged without the sail in place (somebody must have done it at least once!). So, whatever pleases your eye is the "correct way".

I agree with James. Selecting how to present your model is your call.

One nice thing about your project, which seems very well executed, is that as a more contemporary vessel, it doesn't have all the traditional baggage that goes with older prototypes. Has anyone ever seen an admirality model of a racing boat?

While I did include sails in my last model, I'm certainly not a diehard advocate. Model sails must almost as given fact be somewhat out of scale. On the on the other hand, would it be possible to hint at sails to display your "spin pole"? Could the outline of sails be penciled in with rigid wire? Would it be possible to model them with thin clear sheets of blown plastic?

Bottom line, it's your model, and you are the author of its story.

Regards

Jim
