Currently working on a small plastic tug. Am looking for a small wooden project next. Something simple and cheap.

Dave: Welcome aboard Neighbor ( I live in Beaverton).
Might I suggest the Phantom pilot boat for your first wooden model? Many here have done the model and there is a thread and practicum devoted to it. It is a "beginner" kit with a solid wood hull (a little bit of carving and sanding involved), limited rigging, and some tools are provided. Plus, if you complete it in 6 months, and buy another MS kit, you get your money back, towards the purchase of the second kit. So "free" is a good price! Tammie's Hobbies ( TV Hwy and 217) carries it, and you can submit the required photos to them.
