Hello all. Happy to have found this forum. I just finished the King of the Mississippi. Before that the Mantua Armed Launch, and the first was the AL Constellation (my wife and I were on board her back in the 70's, thus the choice). I just ordered a wooden gear clock kit (looks like fun but should only take a couple of weeks) as a diversion until I can decide which ship to tackle next. Any suggestions?

Art: Welcome aboard
As to "What next?"; What types of ships do you like? Do you want to commit another five years to a single model again, or prefer to do several projects? With your experience, it wouldn't be "degree of difficulty", but "which one?". I would vote for a large clipper model (I've got the flying Fish by MS in the closet) so I'm biased. Post some photo's of your models, we all like photo's! And, good luck in your choice of "Next".

Hi Art. Welcome Aboard!
You should post some photos of your projects when you get the chance - Upload Photo(s) (open in a blank window), we like to see picsUpload Instructions (open in a blank window). Gary ps - perhaps you might like to build HMS VICTORY , and guess what? I have one for sale - Corel 's HMS VICTORY 1-98 scale ( NEW IN THE BOX!)- think about it .

I didn't choose to finish the Victory model I am currently working on. It was given to me by a modeling friend. But I had told him that if I did take up another model it would be the Victory. The ship is one of if not the most significant ship in the history of naval dominance and wooden ships. It has a colorful history and you can even tour the real ship in England. I found this out after beginning work on my model. I am kind of an anti-war person, but this was too important even for me to pass up.

Thank you all for the feedback. I really enjoyed working on the Mantua Armed Launch because of the big scale (1:16). I think I'd like to tackle another medium to big scale model, with just a moderate amount of rigging. I've read the good reviews of Model Shipways products and the Glad Tidings is appealing. My planking skills are still rather weak and this looks like this kit may help in that area from what the literature says. Does anyone have experience with it?
Hopefully in the next few days I'll be able to post photos of what I've done so far. |

No experience with the GT pinky but am a fan of MS. Their replacement policy is very good and the model looks like it wouldn't be a "multi-year project. If you are doing the river boat now, we have a couple of members working on that now, if you have any questions. looking forward to your photo's.

James,
Thanks. The Constellation was only a multi-year project because a.) I own my own business and b.) my kids were in their teens so the hobby was at the bottom of the priority list- there were months and months when I didn't touch it. Now, the kids are grown and on their own, and I've streamlined the business, so I can spend a couple of hours a day and several on the weekends. I still like the looks of that Pinky Schooner......... I'm having trouble uploading pictures- seems the file sizes are too big. I'm going to search the site for help, but if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it. |

The camera's "program" format may be too large. If it has a setting for "E-mail" try that.

I finally got the photos uploaded, so if anyone wants to take a look.
Thanks James. The photos were already taken but I just had to "save as" each of them to a smaller file format. I have a question about a certain technique. Is it OK to start a new thread on the subject, or where do I go? Automerged Post: Oh, also. I seem to have uploaded some duplicate pictures but can't figure out how to get rid of them. |

You've already "introduced" your self, so the new thread can be in the "scuttlebutt", or whichever forum it pertains to. Looked at your photo's. Excellent work on all three, well done. |
