Well here it is. As I have posted before, this is a Heller 1/150 plastic model of the Mayflower from Heller. With the help of many people on this board I have managed to rig it and and modify it to the best of my abilities. It's not museum perfect as I have used some techniques for the first time. My next one will be better since I am no longer intimidated by all those ropes and blocks and " where in the world do I tie these" etc..
This particular kit was not intended for extensive rigging and sails. It came with ugly molded plastic ratlines and vacuformed sails and the rigging plan showed only a few ropes to suggest rigging. No blocks or dead eyes were provided with the kit. I got my supplies from Model Expo which I knew nothing about before joining this forum. I will use and abuse them again for my next project: the completion of yet another Heller kit, The Victory. Using what I know now, I will try to replace all that is replaceable with more realistic rigging hardware etc... Most of the hull was already completed but I will revisit it for sure and will posting my progress here. Thank you. Stephane Gariepy Las Vegas NV[ |

Very nice are you going to try wood now? It's more challenging but just as much fun.

Stephane:
Well done. You'll find Heller's Victory quite a bit more involved but worth the effort. I started that kit many years ago and lost it during a move. I was impressed with the amount of detail in it. Enjoy!
