Default HMS King George V

I'm researching HMS King George V with the prospect of scratchbuilding a 1:128 scale model.

I've got the plans from the Nat. Maritime Museum in London (all 7 sheets!) and have one or two books and photos, and a friend has given me the full set of NMM plans for KGV's sister HMS Anson.

If any forum member has good info, especially photos, as to the rig and general appearance of KGV in 1945 I should be very interested.

In hope.

Roger

Is this the ship that was sold, converted to cruise ship, renamed " Fantome" and sank off the coast of Belize in a hurricane some 8-10 years ago. with the loss of the whole crew. If it is the one, I may have some pictures, I did a cruise on this ship in 1985.

Scale 1/128? Are you aware that there is a British manufacturer who offers hulls (and I think some fittings too) of all major WW2 ships? I think their name is Fleetscale.

Jean-Pierre, Yes I'm familiar with Fleetscale, in fact my HMS Queen Elizabeth was built on a Fleetscale hull. They actually have a photo of my QE on the front page of their website. However, their hulls are good but the detailing is somewhat overscale, so I spent many hours removing all their detailing and putting on my own. This time, for KGV, I will build my own hull from scratch.

Raymond, the KGV was not renamed Fantome, she was scrapped at Dalmuir in 1957.
