Default USS Dallas or Ranger sails

I'm going to start building the Art. Lat. kit USS Dallas 1815 and haven't been able to find drawings of her. I want to add sails since the kit didn't come with any. I'm told that the USS Ranger was her sister ship. Is anyone familiar with either ship and can you direct me to a source for photos to get the sails right.

Just saw your request for help, and maybe I can. For great pictures on a build check out this web site by a fellow modeler:

http://www.mountainhaven.com/dallas/index.html

(I hoped that worked; if not, copy and paste to your browser)

More importantly, Seaways Ships in Scale magazine did a multipart series a few years back on building the Dallas kit. As an addendum, they covered on how to make the sails for it in the last 3 articles. The issues ranged from September 92 to January 96. I had bought the CDs from Ships in Scale magazine and that is how I found them. You can either do the same or watch for issues on Ebay.

Good luck.
John

The photos on that site are great. They'll really help with construction. I still haven't found the Seaways mag for the addition of sails but I'm close.
Thanks a bunch for the link I'll post to the forum if I find the rest.

To go a little further in the info I provided you yesterday.......

The magazine CDs I was refering to are found here:
http://www.seaways.com/

It is the web page for Ships in Scale magazine and the links to the different CD sets are about half way down the page.

The specific issues that address the building of the Dallas are in the Seaways editions (not the original SIS) and are:
Sep/Oct 92
Nov/Dec 92
Jan/Feb 93
Mar/Apr 93
May/Jun 93

Sep/Oct 95
Nov/Dec 95
Jan/Feb 96

The first five articles in the series address the building of the kit. The last three tell you how to make and mount the sails. I wish I could you help you out more, but I think that with the company still selling the CDs, there are some copyright issues involved here.
Hope this helps.
John

Don't worry about it, I ordered the first ten years of the magazine cd. For $40.00 it's a bargain. It seems like the mag provides a lot of info not only on the Dallas but scratch building and ship modeling in general. You've been an enormous help. Thank you.
