Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Default New wood ship Modeler

Hi everyone, After building plastic model ships and airplanes I decided to move (slowly) into wooden ship kits. My area of interest in ancient Greece and Rome so the Amati Bireme was an obvious choice. maybe a little over my head for a first choice, but I'm having fun, and isn't that what it's all about? Waiting in the closet are Mantua's Caesar Roman Galley, Amati Egyptian Transport, Amati Greek Galliot, and Viking ships by Mantua and Amati.
Anyone know of any plans for the Olympias (the full size Trireme built a few years ago)?
Anyway Glad to be here!!!

Sorry, can't help you there. Have you seen this site? - The Trireme Trust  I think there's a contact for plans at the bottom of the page.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info and especially the links. I will certainly check them out. As to the Trireme, I have the book published by the Trireme Trust and there are some plans in it. The sheer plan, body plan and waterlines all look as though they took the fore and aft most verticals and just compresed them towards the middle. AS I learn more about reading plans maybe I can figure them out. We'll see, that project is a ways away yet. Anyway, thanks for the welcome and the help. Kevin
