Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Default Pride of Baltimore Painting

For the Pride of Baltimore Builders I wanted to share this painting with you and others. The oil painting has a special place over the mantel in our family room. I placed two pictures in my galley of the painting that was painted for me in 1995 by Roger Simmons, a dear friend. Roger is retired now and lives in Ocean Pines, Maryland (near Ocean City), he received his BFA from the National Art Academy in Washington D.C. 45 years ago. At the time of this painting, he was a resident artist at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. His sea scape paintings have been published in National Geographic and Jans Fighting Ships, several of his paintings can be seen at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland and in studios on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the home of his birth. I hope that you enjoy his work.

Charlie

Hey Charlie,
Very nice indeed!!
Will be a very, very nice compliment to have your model displayed close to these!!
Don't need to be a "Pride of Baltimore" builder to appreciate.

Kind Regards,

Harry Funnell.

Very Nice, Indeed!! That ship is what got me interested in finally doing a large wooded ship model, as I was fortunate to be able to visit her 2 years ago at the tall ships show in Bay City. I finally chose to do Niagara, but she will probably be a future project. Thanks for a lovely painting.
