I've been building wooden models for several years and am now getting started in tall ships. I have found it easier to start new projects with the assistance of someone who has done this before. I am hoping that there may be someone in the area that I live that has the expertise to help me with my new projects.

With the internet, you have the whole world to help you. On my last build I had help from a gentleman in Holland, the country of origin for the ship, who was also building the same kit. Its a new world... Slow |

Hello John,
Welcome to the forum. Jim's message to you is spot on - It's a great place to be and you will always find help. I see you're doing 'Bluenose' . There are various places to look for guidance on how to do things or technical aspects and the occasional bit of inspiration. I use other member's photos in the forum gallery to assist. Jim Lefever has done a superb version of 'Benjamin W Latham' which is very similar to 'Bluenose'. You will also find guidance at 'modelshipbuilder.com' where there is an excellent 'Bluenose' practicum by Gene Bodnar under 'projects'. I also found 'modelshipworld.com' a great source for more detail in their gallery. Ship albums are listed alphabetically and Richard Austin's photos are superb. All I would say from my observations are that no two Bluenoses are alike! Good luck with your retirement and happy building. Regards, Rudea (Chris) |
