Default Which mini table saw?

Have looked at the Byrnes, Micromark, Proxon, and Jarmac. What has been your experience with any of these and which one would purchase?.........Reggie

I guess it depends on your budget Reggie. I found a small 4 inch table saw at Harbor Freight, it's not the greatest but it helped me out in a pinch. I have heard some good comments for Byrnes and Proxon. Another place you might check is Grizzly Tools at Grizzly.com. I purchased a hobby lathe from them and the quality is very good.

Reggie

I believe the Micromark saw, is the same tool as the Proxon with different paint.

On-the-other-hand, Recently I received a catilogue from Penn State Industries (pennstateind.com) which appears to be aimed at people who turn small wood objects. They appear to have some very nice small wood lathes but on the last page they feature a small table saw. Described as a "4" Mighty Micro" Table saw, the machine sells for $59.95 including two carbide tooth blades.

Anyone know anything about this company or tool?

Reggie:
Do you have a table mounted router?
Believe it or not, it is actually better than a table saw for things like ripping planks.
Dremel makes a small blade with a very thin kerf that can be mounted on an arbor.

Had a micro table saw years ago and found it to be under powered for a lot of the things I tried to do with it.

Reggie;

I recommend Byrnes table saw hands down. Excellent engineering and virtually impossible to stall. There are cheaper ones available but they don't compare in my opinion. Of course I love my tools as much as my ships

Cheers

Mike

If you are going to be mathematically specific with your wood cut planks or anything else for that matter Go with the Byrnes table saw,. It will pay off in the long run,.

Thought I was saving money (A BIG MISTAKE) when I purchased the Micro Mark table saw.

Eventually I had to purchase the Byrnes model,. Had I waited and accumulated the additional money I would have saved both the frustration as well as the added expense in the long run

If you don't care then go with Micro Mark or Proxxon

Just remember when you buy cheap you get cheap.l

I know that their are some of you that favor MM or the Proxxon, but The Byrnes TS has been recommended hands down, every time this question has reared it's head on other forums as well as this.

Henry, I am very keen on my Proxxon FET table saw, I already posted it makes me so happy, but they have one model any size you want, not just one saw.
27006 so quiet, little 50mm-60mm blades (too small for my works)
28070 variable speed, larger 80mm-90mm blades
27070 (my loved FET) micrometer adjusting the fence, miter limit stop

What I want to express, it is better if you do not like one of these saws, you could tell us which model you tried?

This was a question that has been up in the MSW forums as well.
Okay, the Byrnes saw may have a higher price tag, consider this....
Each machine is handbuilt to order and the reputation is real good.
A friend of mine back in Sweden bought one ..... even though there are other products available allready in the country, he ordered one and got it converted for 220/240V system.
He's very impressed of the quality.
Good luck in your search....

Per

I have to agree with the comments about paying more for nicer equipment. I have a Jarmac that I've had for a long time. It's... okay. It still runs and it cuts, but is so underpowered that I don't do much with it.

I imagine that if I had a more accurate and more powerful table saw, I'd use it a lot more. As it is, I really am limited on what I can do with it.

Mine IS pretty old and the current model has a lot more power than mine as I understand. Still, even the Micromark/Proxxon model is better than mine.

Hey, what ever happened to PREAC? I used to drool over their table saw.
