Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Thank you for that advice! I have printed it out and included it with the kit.

I had a warped keel with my Jefferson Davis. Here is a link to the thread that I posted when I asked for help.
http://shipmodeling.net/vb_forum/th...rped-Keel-.html
I built my own keel clamp by taking two pieces of shelving and screwing them to a larger board. Make the slot about the same width as your keel piece. This will keep the keel straight until you add an upper structure. The L brackets kept the higher part of the keel plumb.
Here is a link to my build thread. It is the first wooden ship I have ever attempted. Just take your time.

I'm happy to help Bill. Post some pictures when you can. It makes for easier understanding of what you have written.

Greg,

I will post pictures if I can figure out how to do so. I haven't even figured out how to start a thread on this site!

Anyway, I haven't started the HMS Surprise yet. I am working on HMS Pandora, trying to make modifications to the kit as I go. The f'ocs'le is all wrong.
