Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Default HMS Bounty

Making progress, slow but sure. Next major obstacle, my winter sabbatical is almost over and I will be returning to the East Coast from Southern California for several months. The only way to correct this is to have a project on the east coast and one on the west coast. The Bounty my not be completed until my summer visit. I just added some current photos of the HMS Bounty. WOW what an experience working with this model.

Hey Charlie, great looking model. I'm nearly at the masting stage with my Bounty, this certainly has been a fun project for me as well. Although I must admit I'm taking a bit of time away from the project, need the rest.

This would be a great time to start a thread for the Bounty for any discussions or questions that anyone might have. I've done a fair amount of research and strived for accuracy wherever I could.

Dave,

Very good idea to share technical questions about the HMS Bounty. I have found it hard to find two pictures that agree with each other. I do know that I have technical errors on this model as well as construction. I try to keep a diary as I am building making special notes of any goof-ups that I find, hopefully to prevent a duplication of the same error on future ships.

One thing I'm finding difficult is locating a rigging plan that I can actually follow. I'd like to use the plans in the Anatomy book but its not very clear. I could use rigging plans from similar sized ships or at least learn the tie points for the more common lines. I'm just not too confident with AL's plans and don't really want to follow them since I can see errors right off the bat.

Are there any good plans in existance?

Dave

There are some plans and instructional notes on the hull and rigging
here:
http://shipmodeling.uw.hu/Bounty/index.htm

The site is written in Russian and the notes are in english and Italian!
I downloaded all the plans and instruction/notes and have found them
useful never the less. In particular the rigging drawings.

These are Instructional/construction notes and drawings.
