I have just finished an old kit, AL 1:48 HMS Bounty 1783 , which I found to be very difficult since the instructions and plans were totally useless. However it is finished. I am now finishing the display case.
My question is to do with the position of the gaff on the mizzen mast. I have built the model without sails. My thinking is that if the ship was moored for any length of time they would have taken the sails down, which would mean the gaff would be in a lowered position. My question is, would the gaff be left in the down positon? The pictures I have of the ship at rest show the gaff raised with no sails, but is this technically correct? |
