One of my favorite outings is to go to woodworkers shows held in our area (and yours too, I'd bet). I discovered that at least one vendor will be advertising an amazing accurate saw and blades by cutting VERY THIN pieces of various hardwoods. These are about 1/64th inch in thinckness, about two inches wide and around 18" long ... and smooth as that traditional baby's "transom". Here's the big surprise: those are typically just thrown in the trash can and can be gotten for free!

Hi Bill
That is one tiny kerf. Is that for a proxxon type hobbie saw ? BTW I loved your "Babys transom" remark |

BILL,
You got me there as to the saw. The equipment being used was about a 10" blade on a full-sized tablesaw. I was not intereted in the machinery but the "samples" sure caught my eye. I'm using some of that thin stuff now to make some flat moldings. One of our most common faults in models it to use materials that are too big for the scale used ... this stuff is perfect for my need. I can easily cut it with an Xacto #11 blade. Don't spread the word too much or those guys will start SELLING those samples ... LOL! BILL |
