G'day, yes you can use the side elevation and the water lines to produce bulkhead sections, its easy to show but harder to explain, try to find a tutorial on lofting plans.

All you have to do is clamp a small piece of wood in a vice, then cut a piece of wire to just over the length that you require, hold one end in a pair of pliers and place it over the wood in the vice...

The RN website is quite right in that the Union Jack flown in the bows of commissioned ships is the only one which really is a jack (unless you count the white-bordered...

G'day Tom, I believe the size was 48 inches by 18 inches and on navy ships the after end of the first plate over lapped the front of the second and the top of the plate beneath overlapped the bottom...
