Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Re: Corel's Half moon build log

Very nice shipyard you have there Hamid. I really like your building jig. You're obviously well prepared for this project.

Re: HMS Bagle

Tom, your model doesn't look anything like it's "supposed" to look like from the kit art. Instead, it looks BEAUTIFUL! Fantastic job you did on it. I'm very impressed with your results. It's a really...

Re: Which kit to choose?

Hello Hamid,

Congratulations on getting your kit.

I'm glad you looked carefully at the bulkheads. Before I read your post, I wanted to quickly jump in and suggest that you check the alignment of...

Re: Artesania Latina SwiftMy first POB

Your Swift is looking really great Phil.

One thing, looks like the rudder is hanging down just a bit below the keel, so I'd suggest sanding it a little if possible.

I built the kit many years ago...

Re: Which kit to choose?

Hi Hamid,

Glad I could add to the confusion! I'm usually pretty good at that :=)

The Half Moon sounds like a great choice in terms of subject matter and difficulty of build. I've seen a scratch...

Re: Which kit to choose?

Hi Hamid,

That airbrush equipment looks great. Much nicer than the stuff I bought last year. Whatever paints you use, you will want to make sure they are appropriate for airbrush use. Model Shipways...

Re: Lexinon Brig Mamoli 1100 scale

Hi David,

Good luck with your project. I'm afraid the only build log I've seen is the same one as you. Broken links to photos, not finished, etc.

I'm sure if you started your own build log, you can...

Re: mamoli HMS Victory

Hi David,

I would also add that, while most beginner really don't want to hear this, it is best to start on a simpler kit, as you'll discover a lot of things about wooden ship model kits that you...

Re: Are all Model Shipway's 3mm blocks 4mm?

Thanks for the reply Paul.

These blocks are reasonably consistent and I actually did run them through the Model Shipways' Block Buster. Which, I have to note, loses out to the blocks and is more...

Are all Model Shipway's 3mm blocks 4mm?

This is pretty aggravating. I purchased a bunch of blocks in bulk from Model Shipways. They look fine as they'll match the style of blocks on a model that I'm rigging. But, I ordered 3mm blocks...

Re: Yacht Mary

Hi Chazz,

I've never built the kit, but I've always really liked the subject.

I think you should go for it. The only thing to be careful of with Mamoli kits is to check the bulkhead pieces and...

Re: Rigging question, lifts?

Hi Tom,

I liked Dave's advice.

I looked at the Beagle drawings in the AOS book and if I'm looking at the right place, I think I see your dilemma. Are you talking about lifts passing between the...

Re: unknown object ?

Hi Gary,

That's an interesting one. Kind of hard to make out, even when enlarged, but it looks like it's hockey puck shaped with a something like a short mast sticking up. It looks like something...

Re: Sidewheel Steamer USS Susquehanna

Hi Bill,

That sounds like a good reason to choose the Susquehanna. Myself, I live very close to San Francisco and am also half Japanese so the Powhattan's connection with the carrying of the first...
