Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Re: Planking

A second layer of planking is good, especially if you want to leave the hull with a natural wood finish, rather than painting it. I'm guessing your Bluenose ll is the AL kit, that actually worked...

Re: Planking

Hi Bob, Welcome to the forum.

One of the reasons for planking the hull with full length planks, is it makes the hull stronger, and helps to prevent the hull from warping, and twisting. Some don't...

Re: Charles W Morgan Model Shipways

Your Morgan is looking very good!!!! The filler blocks between the bulkheads will help a lot when planking the deck. I didn't do that, and I had to be extra careful to not have any sagging between...

Re: newbie needing help with MS CW Morgan

Hey Jim,

If I remember right I started at the back, and worked it towards the front. Bevel the waterway, and make sure that it will be alittle thicker than the deck planking cause the planking will...

Re: new member intro

Hi Raymond,
Glad to see your back to building again, been a long time. Good luck with your Red Dragon, and I think once you get going on those MS kits, you'll enjoy them. Hope to hear more from ya.

Re: Motivation

I think in some way, this has helped some. I've been able to work on the Morgan every evening this week for at least a little while. I hope it continues.

Re: Ropewalk size????

Hey Charlie, Here's a quick tip, don't judge the look of your rope until you get rid of the fuzz. The fuzz will obscure the true look of the rope, and not look so good. Use wax, or as I prefer to do,...

Re: What's the advantage of using a ropewalk?

Using a ropewalk is like another way of scratchbuilding. Also, making your own rope looks better than the rope sold with kits, it actually looks like real rope. Rope that comes with a kit is very...
