I suggest Mastini's book "Ship modeling simplifed" which has filled in many blanks in the instructions for me. Available at model ship web shops, and at Amazon.com.

I am currently working on Constructo's Enterprise kit, and have been for about the past 12 months (I only work on the kit on weekends for a few hours). I find the kit to have excellent instructions...
