Take care Walter. Having a heart condition myself I know where you're coming from. Just take it one day at a time.
You are a loyal and trusted member of this forum and will be in all of our prayers.

Hang in there Walter, sometimes the meds. you get while in ICU will cause short term memory loss. As far as being afraid, you need to have a consult with your doc and discuss that, while not unusual, there is no need for you to have to tolerate it.
Let us hear from you when you are ready.

That could be a good thing not remembering current events... Seriously, I hope things get back to normal for you as soon as possible. You are in my prayers...

Hi Walter
I know what you're going through. 4 years ago I had open heart surgery to repair my aorta and replace my aortic valve. At first I couldn't remember very much nor could I do very much. Hang in there, time will be on your side and you will recover just fine. I was in rehab shortly after surgery and fairly "normal" in 3 months.
I had chest pain for a year, all normal according to my Doctor. I wouldn't be writing this had I not had the surgery, so a little memory loss and pain was well worth it.
good luck
Bill

I too have had a heart attack 10 years ago when I was 43. Had an ICD implanted in my chest along with 3 stints. My short term memory was almost non existent. After time, it does come back. Problem I have now is that I take so many pills, I rattle when I walk.
Heart conditions are a true wake up call and being scared is a very normal reaction to this. Try to remember that you are not alone, your family and friends are there to listen and be supportive while your on the mend.
Take care and all the best....
