Re: Drink up me hearties'yo ho !!!
Gday Folks
well ive made some advancements all the bulk heads are glued in ..but being a Chinese model kit the translation and sequencing of the build is a touch confusing..but all good i have this forum and a few new guiding books plus some orig photoes of the studio sets to get the builds in the right direction also my blasted iphone has saved all the pics in some hidden file on theis laptop ..so i can only up load what i can find..and i cant find any recent ones :S anyway my first question without a great deal of forum research is ..What glue do we use to glue domn the decking planks?..i have PVC and Liquid Nail..is there an alternative? Cheers Dfish |
Re: Drink up me hearties'yo ho !!!
Hi Dean,
I normally use CA glue (Superglue) on deck and hull planking making sure I do not get it on the surface. I use medium viscosity which gives a few more seconds work time. I have also used Elmers "Stainable" wood glue. |

Dennis
Sensational mate thanks for that, I was completely lost on the planks..I was scratching my head in the shed last night trying to figure out if the PVA or Liquid nail would hold..but Super Glue will do the trick..thank you very much for your awesome advice..very much appreciated..cheers Dfish Automerged Post: oh and another question what do i clamp the cannon carrage together with while it drys..i used the smallest ones i have and they still shot accross the shed and whacked the dog in the ear..im thinking the super glue trick that Dennis offered but id like to PVA them due to..oh heres another thing the cannons have no umm..hinge point..(i dont have the tech books here at the moment)..so i am thinking of cutting up some nails and glueing them in for the cannons hinge ppoint..yes its a bit hard to show what i mean without a pic..any ideas!!?... thank you Dfish |
Re: Drink up me hearties'yo ho !!!
well I up loaded some pics of 'The Pearl' in progress ..but i seem to have misplaced them in the Forum somewhere ..????!..so if there is anyone with strange pics in their album or gallery let me know so i can pick them up...lol..i have been moving alonng quiet nicely..i have assembled 12 gun carrages and am waiting for some extra 'Black Wlanut' so that i can begin to plank the lower deck before fitting in the guns, barrells, nets and buckets and 'food' bags that i have manufatured or purchased..i am hopeing to get into planking the lower deck tom..because with it not being planked i cannot begin to plank the first layer of planks on the lower hulll..due to the instablility of the model it only having the keel beam to stabilise it at this stage of the buildso i am also building up some of the other extra items on the decks such as hand rails and ladders etc..I was hopeing to have the model in a recognisable fashion by early November..there is an agricultural show on and i was going to enter it in the 'arts and crafts ' section of it..but i doubt it will be ready till the 2011 show next year..I wonder what the adverage time is for completeing the first 'plank on bulkhead' model ??..anyway i hope these pics find thier way to gallery soon..cheers Dfish
