Hi all just wanted to introduce myself and let you all know I will definitely be looking for advice and guidance when I begin building. I've always wanted to build a ship and my first project is The Sea Witch from Scientific, I know it's an old kit and I don't know if I've bitten off more than I can chew but I'll soon find out I guess.

Welcome aboard Chris C,

You may want to look these over:
1 - Planking_the_hull, running the_planks
2 - A Novice's_Planking Rules
3 - 12 Spiling Steps
4 - GUIDE FOR THE BEGINNER WOOD MODEL SHIPWRIGHT (Part One)
5 - Forums' FAQ (Still under construction)
6 - List of recommended modeling_books

If you have any questions or need any help, just post it here in the Scuttlebutt

Glad to have you with us Chris,
Lots of friendly members here, so feel free to ask questions. No question is too dumb.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the links. I have ordered two of the recommended books,Frank Mastini's Ship Modeling Simplified and Donald Dressel's Planking Techniques for Model Ship Builders, and they should be here tomorrow. After a bit of reading with those books and a lot of reading here in the forums I should have more confidence and insight to get things started the right way.

Looks like a fun kit for starters, good luck as you get to it! :=)
