Hi all! New shipmate onboard
Ahoy mates - I'm new to the Forum. My interest is in highly detailed 1:16 scale tugboats. The current project is a 45' Army ST class tug using the Microglass hull, perhaps the only tug hull available in that large scale. Am also doing research on the classic type-2 "G Tug" of the Great Lakes Towing Company. Plan to make one in the original steam configuration and one of the later diesel conversions.

Re: Hi all! New shipmate onboard
Hi Mark,
Welcome aboard. I always had a big interest in tugboats, too. I grew up in Havre de Grace and as a kid I used to watch the tugs pushing barges down the river from Wiley manufacturing in Port Deposit. I was always amazed how much power is packed into those little boats and for a time I wanted to work on one. Joined the Air Force instead. I hope you get a chance to post pictures of your projects soon. I´m sure everyone would like to see them. ´There are other tugs models pictures here on the site that I have seen and they really look fantastic. So check them out and enjoy the site. Bill |
Re: Hi all! New shipmate onboard
Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Was riding in Baltimore's 'Tour du Port' bicycle event this past weekend. The route follows the path that circles historic Ft. McHenry, passing by the City Fireboat dock by the fort's entrance. The fireboats would make great models. Ah well, have enough projects in work as it is... |
