Scratchbuilt Air Tank

3 Attachment(s)
I live in a apartment complex, and after purchasing a small compressor for my airbrush, I found out htey frown upon this in the complex (due to overspray from previous tenants). So in order to circumvent the rule, one day when I was bored, I created this portable air tank (figured it was cheaper and would be more of a conversation piece than going out and buying one).

It is made of a propane tank with the inlet/outlet removed and replace with a air fill nozzle from my Jeep spare, I drilled and tapped the air outlet and added a regulator and shut off valve to it.

It holds approx. 130 lbs of air, and I can airbrush for about 3-4 hours at 15 psi.

Nice, having no idea about this; is 15 PSI sufficent and what is normally used.
My hat is off to you for that nifty idea and handywork.

I use a Badger Airbrush that runs 15 to 30 psi. I use my brush between 15 to 20 psi. for styrene and metal. I have not used it on wood yet, I may need to up it a tad to put a heavier coat on, since wood will probably soak it in.

Scott:
If you use a wood sealer (I use "Deft" brand, available in stores like Ace and Home Depot), you can use the same pressure and amount of paint as metal and plastic. It dries very quickly to a semi-rough surface, you can smooth it out with super fine steel wool.

The home made air take looks good.
