Beware of Testors Model Masters Acryl water based paints. I have now used four of the colors. Two are like painting with water (way too thin). The "stop light red" turns out to be a metalic (but not on the color chart sample) and nothing like the color sample on the color chart.

I've found the same with the Model Master line. They spray great, but you've really got to dig around in the bottom and stir them a LOT before you can brush paint. The pigment really separates in that brand.

Hi Alan - I have had some bad luck with TESTORS paints also - I switched to WINDSOR & NEWTON "GALERIA" acrylic paints . Excellent color and good coverage "straight out of the tube" . Available at craft/art supply stores .

I have used Model Master paints for years and I have come to realize that although not indicated they are optimized for airbrushing. They require diligent mixing, I usually stir them for quite some time using Badgers hand held stirring tool. Also the surface has to be well prepped with no finger oils or too much shining of the surface if you are going to attempt brushing.

As far as the colour chart goes it matches up good if you prime the surface with a light colour primer. In fact i used to prime plastic with silver paint first. Also watch out if you use it on wood that is not properly sealed, the acrylic medium they use will seek out any access to the wood and cause it to swell like it was left in water.

For wood I have come to like Humbrol enamel or Vallejo acrylics - (un-thinned). Mostly I now plan my painting to use my airbrush as much as possible.
