Domus kits
 

I've been reasearching the ships of the Trafalgar battle and was looking for the Santisima Trinidad and found this from Domus. Has anyone seen these kits?

They have 4 new pof kits with the only Santisima Trinidad that I've ever seen.
I don't know about the quality though.

Always good to see the genre grow.

Here's the Domus web site. All in Spanish, and Google doesn't seem to translate the pages. Looks like they manufacture more then just ship models. They have a link to Model Expo fro USA sales, but I went there and couldn't find any of their models listed. Apparently the company is just entering the American market. This is the first I've heard of them, so I don't have any idea how good the ship kits are.

Did a money conversion of the SANTISIMA TRINIDAD: 275,00EUROS = (Approx.) $330.00, excluding shipping costs, and any possible tax.
The photos look nice, but they are photos. It's a question of who in the States is willing to take the plunge and get one of their kits. :-k

I found the english link at the top. They sell model buildings of various sorts and that might be what is currently available from Model Expo. This is the link to their new line of ships. Ordering from hobbiesguinea.com seems straight forward, anyone care to be the, guinea...pig? :lol:

Man. That web site has a whole bunch of link problems. Most don't work, and those that do, the pages load very slow. They don't seem to list the ship model kits in the catalog either.

True, I've heard about the Constructo hash and the "different" and poor quality of the instructions. Plus they go way back to the days of competing with plastic kits and really haven't made a good switch over from solid hulls to the pof or pob assembly method. But, this is a "new" ship kit maker from Spain and there is always hope they will start out on the right foot. [-o<
If no one else takes a chance I might take a plunge with their Corsair, being a Pirate fan and all.

So, you're going to take the plunge and get one Craven? How much do they want for the Corsair? I know it's a new manufacturer, but I've always been leery of most European kits. I've got too many kits stockpiled now. I'll probally have to will them to my kids. :no:

Its about $150. I too have some kits stockpiled, and I would like to cut my teeth on a couple of other European kits before I start blazing into unknown teritory. :-s My first EU kits will be the A/L Clara May then the San Juan. After those I might feel more comfy.

I'm not knocking European kits in general. As with any kit, American, European or otherwise, you as the model maker have to interpret the instructions. My one complaint with a lot of kit manufacturers is the inaccuracy of some of the cast parts, plastic or metal. Not the actual make-up of the part, but it's accuracy as to the historical era of the ship or boat. On some kits I've thrown out some of the cast parts and made my own.
$150 is not a bad price. If you get it, let us know what you think of the kit.
