I agree with James. Selecting how to present your model is your call.

One nice thing about your project, which seems very well executed, is that as a more contemporary vessel, it doesn't have all the traditional baggage that goes with older prototypes. Has anyone ever seen an admirality model of a racing boat?

While I did include sails in my last model, I'm certainly not a diehard advocate. Model sails must almost as given fact be somewhat out of scale. On the on the other hand, would it be possible to hint at sails to display your "spin pole"? Could the outline of sails be penciled in with rigid wire? Would it be possible to model them with thin clear sheets of blown plastic?

Bottom line, it's your model, and you are the author of its story.
