New and presently frustrated member
Retired in 1967 as submarine qualified Senior Chief after 22 years.
I've done only one small plastic model ship, and that was in 1953. Having recently become very interested in the history of USS Constitution, I became a member of the museum and assembled a 1/196 model. The only good thing one could say about it is she looks like a sailing ship with lots of rigging. Perhaps a bit rash, but decided to go for the 1/96 and expect to be asking for help. For example, how do you tie a thread to a small projection on the inner hull to rig guns on the gun deck? Step 5 in Revell's Kit 0398. I'm managing, but the result looks sloppy (thread not taut twixt guns).
