Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Default Long time model builder but new to ships

Hi,
I've been lurking about for quite some time, finally built up the nerve to purchase a wooden ship model and officially register on this forum. I've been building plastic models for long time but wooden models are a whole new animal to me. There seems to be a wealth of talent and information here and I am anxious (and a bit nervous) to get started.
Thanks, brian

Any Idea which kit you're going to start with? Or do you plan on jumping right into the scratch build? I am always excited to see a new project begin.

Glad to have you aboard Brian,
I think you made a wise choice with the Phantom. You will learn a lot from Chuck Passaros practicum and end up with a fine model. I started with the Phantom also. Many members have built the Phantom and some still are. Feel free to ask questions. No question is too dumb.

Thanks for the greetings :)

Eric, I picked up the Phantom by Model Shipways and I see you're well on your way to finishing it up....I'm so jealous..lol

Dennis, it was because of Chuck's practicum that I decided to give it go. I'm really looking forward to starting.
