Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Description » This copious (300 plus pages) and well illustrated volume is a marvelous book for anyone interested in the details of handing a sailing ship of this period. From theoretical principles of sailing to the last chapter on handling accidents at sea it covers just about everything that you might want to know about the subject of sail. It's certainly a great piece of reference for the model builder and is well illustrated with photos and paintings as well as hundreds of drawings by Mark Myers, who is not only an artist but also a sailor who worked as a bosun on the 'Nonsuch', the replica of a seventeenth century ketch and a rigger on a 'Golden Hinde' replica. Published in 1984, the book is fairly expensive when you can find copies available but there is an on-line version (slightly edited) that is a handy piece of quick reference at Google Books.
