Janwillem: Welcome aboard, lots of help here on the forum. Do you have a particular problem? You say you are "bending wood", so I assume you are in the process of planking the model. Don't hesitate to ask any questions about your build. There a few here that have done that model.

Hello James,
many thanks for your reaction. It is not really the planking. I noticed by reading through the manual and checking the pictures I have to bend pieces of plywood for some decks and spiral staircases. I know that the wood has to be wet in order to bend it without breaking.
But how wet ?
Soak the wood in water for 1/2 hour, 2 hours, 1 night. But I am afraid that if the wood is too wet it may break because it may be too soft.
Best regards,

There are many problems with the AL Mississippi. Be sure to dry fit all parts before gluing. Holes for windows and doors are wrong size. Parts on the laser cut walnut are mislabeled. Some steps could be done in a much better order.
As far as bending wood, there are many different preferences. If you do a search on wood bending, you will find many. My favorite is to boil in plain water for about 20 minutes. Then bend very slowly around something you can clamp to (like a jar lid). Do not install on ship until they dry overnight. The parts will shrink after soaking. Check my gallery. Good luck. Ask questions.
