Dan

Welcome.

We don't get a lot of ships in a bottle but if you're having any luck, please post. I believe there will be a fair amount of interest.

I did one once many decades ago. It wasn't wonderful (small model, large bottle), but it still impresses folks when I trot it out.

In any case regards and welcome

Jim

Hi Dan! Welcome to the forum.
Ya'know, almost everytime I tell someone that I make wooden model ships they ask if I have done a ship in a bottle. For me the answer is no, not because I don't want to but rather because I have not purchased one yet. I do get the feeling though that someday I am going to get a ship in a bottle as a gift for x-mas as most people's only conception of wooden ships are in bottles.
I too would like to see pictures of your work if you can find the time. These may come in handy later on when I do a kit with a bottle. :)

Welcome Dan,
I'm working on Amati's Hannah ship in a bottle. I must say that the kit materials are very good quality. I'm using their instructions plus a build log from Drydock Models forum. Like Richard, most people ask if I've done a ship in a bottle, like you are not a modeler if you haven't. Well, I'm sick and tired of it (LOL) thus I'm hoping to finish the Hannah. With my eyes, we'll see. I may just wind up putting all of the pieces in the bottle and capping it and lie to everyone. Keep us posted on your progress and send some photos if you get the chance.

Can't believe I get the same question from so many people. So who's the idiot that ever decided to build a tiny little ship inside a stupid bottle to begin with.... and how in the hell does one ever manage to tie a clove hitch within?
Welcome Dan.
