After some studying a decided to add a binnacle to my model. A binnacle is a piece of furnature that holds the compass and navigational tools. It as typical three compartments, two for holding the compasses and one to hold the candle to lit the binnacle in the dark. Next to that the binnacle had some smaller compartments to hold other navigational tools.
I studied the ships plans to take proper measurements for placing the binnacle, then took some scrap wood and started.
First a made the frame and the doors using 1mm square walnut. Here is a picture of the frames.

Next i made the doors in closed position. I glued everything using super glue.

I painted the binnacle white on the inside, to reflect the light. Trimmed the panels using red and black.

When finished painting i used some clear varnish to finish the build.
Here two pictures of the binnacle sitting on the deck.
