In the proccess of building the Morgan, some of the deck furniture on the actual ship is copper (top of tryworks and cooling tank). After building the cooling tank out of wood and sanding and sanding and sanding, then painting with copper enamel, still wasn't happy with the results. I then remembered a trick I read about many moons ago, that is, take aluminum foil, contact cement both the wood and the foil, let dry and stick the foil onto the wood. Burnish it down well, trim to fit and it looks like metal. 2 coats of copper paint, then 2 coats dry brush flat black, just the look I wanted. Just a thought for anyone needing anything like this. Thanks. I forget the brand name but there is a metal foil model product that is used to replicate various metal finishes. It's thinner than alum foil.

The foil looks interesting, esp the copper for coppered hulls. I wonder how well the adhesive works on wood and how long it holds up over the years.

Don't know, but you could ask the maker. The site says "adheres to any clean surface."
