I am starting this thread on the suggestion of John... Thank you John. And I hope I have done this correctly too.....

I am intending to be able to have all of us who are working on the Billings Boats Bluenose II kit # 600, but I understand Billings has a couple of other Bluenose kits also, and some of this thread may be used for those kits too.

I work on this model #600 a little bit at a time, mostly as I can and get home from work not so tired for me to enjoy this hobby, so it's taking me awhile to build.

The most difficult thing I find with this kit, (and yes, it is only my second build so far, so I am nowhere close to an experienced shipwright), is the lack of instructions. I feel that I need to spend alot of time pondering my next moves in the build. I have spent alot of time looking at the photographs of the actual Bluenose II (located on this web site, but I don't know how to link those to here).

I feel that, with the lack of instructions, and the scale, I really am building this ship more for experience than anything close to accuracy.

I have made other posts on this site asking questions about my build too. And I have pictures of how far I have progressed on this build also.

So.... if anyone else is as perplexed with Billings Boats Bluenose II also... please enjoy posting here.. and I am sure that we can gain from the experience and wisdom of those who have built this ship before us.

Thanks,
Dan

Ok, I have a question for anyone. This ship only has the first planking, no final layer. and then is to be painted... I put a coat of primer on the hull, and notice that the wood shows through. I did us a little bit of Balsalite, a filler.
Should I let the wood show through the paint job, or use Balsalite filler to finish the whole hull to make it all smooth?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Dan
