Ok,
This is my version of the dust cover. Basically its a homemade version of the case that will cover your model. This is a good time to verify the finished dimensions for when the time comes to buy a case.
I took (10), 5/16" x 36" dowel rods from the hardware store.
Cut them to length; (4) 30" high rods, (4) 36" long sides and (4) 8" deep. Think of a cube shape
Grind down the ends of the (4) 36" rods and the (4) 8" rods to a 1/8" diameter x 5/16" long post at the end using a grinder of all things but you really should use a disk sander.
Drill (2) 1/8" holes in the (4) 30" rods at the ends, keeping the holes at right angles to each other, to receive the ground down end posts.
Insert the end posts into the holes and glue using Gorilla glue, or epoxy. A very strong glue is needed here until the whole thing is complete. Be careful here at this stage since the cube is flimsy.
I bought a clear plastic window weather proofing kit from the hardware store. The kind that shrinks when a hot hair dryer is applied to it. Apply the supplied double sided sticky tape to the outsides of all the dowels. Carefully place the plastic over the tape, press, remove wrinkles, and cut to size. The top piece should be last with tape applied to the outside surface of the previously placed plastic to form a good seal, and no plastic on the bottom, for obvious reasons...
Apply heat from the hair dryer. Don't heat it too much as the dowels will tend to bow when the plastic contracts. Voila, a clear plastic dust cover with no wrinkles and sturdy enough to last.
I took me about 3 days to build because I wanted the glue to be completely dry.

See attached photo,
Also notice the lazy susan. It makes rigging so much easier.
Comments welcome,
Dave

Can't see the picture. But i can imagine what you're trying to do. My wood kits attrack little dust, but my plastics are dust hot spots. Its most anoying to find some dust on the hull after spraying it with paint. What i need is some tool to make my plastics dust free, something static like a static charged perpex rod.

I'll probably eventually buy one of the custom acrylic cases. Though they are rather expensive.

With just the few weeks using it I can already see the dust build up on the top. So I think that a permanent cover is unavoidable.
I have a couple of uncovered plastic model ships that I built in my youth and they are totally covered with all the dust. It would be very difficult now to clean them.

I suppose if you are going to spend the time, money and effort on a good model and hobby why do yourself a disservice and not protect a family heirloom that could be passed down for generations.
