Description: Use of a electric skillet to speed up batten (and planking?) placement. A room temperature soak just does not soften up the wood fast enough. Hope I can still use the skillet to cook food...wonder if I will have to buy another skillet?

If the pan is teflon or ceramic coated it should be ok, if nothing else it might add a little flavor Mike!
