Description: This model of an American whaling ship is made from walrus teeth and whalebone.
The ship model is of a sail-steam vessel, the kind that ventured into Siberian Arctic waters in search of whales.
It was a gift to President Kennedy from Premiere Nikita S. Khrushchev of the Soviet Union. From the JFK Library
