Year or period represented: 1955 History: General cargo ship of the Hamburg Amerika Line Scale and / or dimensions: 1/1000 scale Construction method / materials used: Printed card with floral wire and fly tying silk thread, acrylic paints, white glue. Additional information: This model was constructed using card as the media, the original model kit was scanned and then printed out at reduced scale for this build. Many additional details were added during the build not part of the original kit, such as scratch built anchor windlass and mooring bitts, "chain" made of painted silk thread, railings also made of painted thread, rigging using fly tying silk and floral wire for masts and booms. Research: A bit of research for photos of the actual ship was undertaken to create a number of the details incorporated into the build, all of which were found on the internet.
