History: The EVA K. was operated as a fishing boat at the seaport town of Swansboro, N.C. It would take parties fishing in the surrounding waters behind the barrier islands or out into the Atlantic.

Scale and / or dimensions: Scale 1/2" = 1' 0" Model is 28" in length by 7" in width

Construction method / materials used: Planking is clear Southern pine on pine frames. Other materials used in the model are basswood, 1/32" and 1/8" model aircraft birch plywood, brass tubing and piano wire of various sizes.

Additional information: It is understood that the EVA K. was chartered by the Government during World War II and used in anti-submarine operations immediately off the local North Carolina coastline. In the late 1950's the boat was converted for shrimp-trawling, as that was a much more lucrative pursuit than was sport fishing at that time.

Research: Information from which the plans were drawn came from two rather sketchy photographs, fortunately one was of the bow and the other included the after section of the craft.
