Year or period represented: 1901 History: Just as the whale was responsible for the creation and perfection of the New England whaleboat and its gear, so the oyster was responsible for the evolution of the Chesapeake Bay Bugeye. The only matter with which the oyster was not concerned was the choice of the name "bugeye" for this type of craft." Actually, no one knows the origin of the name. The Edith F Todd was built in 1901 at Oriole MD. She was of log-bottom construction. Scale and / or dimensions: Scale = 1:32 length = 23" height = 16" Construction method / materials used: Constructed with pine, basswood with brass fittings, some wire and chain to replicate the original.
