Hello Guest! There's a lot to look over, so sit back with a cup of coffee, relax and browse around. We have a great group of ship and boat modelers here, both newbies and old salts, from all over the world. Our goal here is to help each other, without criticism or rebuke. Both newbies and old salts alike can learn from each other. No one has all the answers. Our most basic rule is simple, respect for your fellow members and their opinions. And don't take yourself too seriously! wirewolf (John, AKA - Cap), Forum Administrator

Ron,

Thank God for Elmers Wood filler! I shimmed out the bulkheads so much that when I got to the false keel (on the bottom) I completely covered it. Just hoping that the build doesn't call for the stem/bottom/stern keel to "connect" to anything other than the second hull planking.

I am about the same place that you are on my Virginia A/L 1805. YOur photos helped me understand the problems of sanding and filling. I did the filling using Rock Hard Water Putty. I am still a little confused as to how much of the false keel gets covered with the first layer of planking. I assume all of it although the piecing and cutting is more difficult than for the rest of the hull.
