This is a review of the AC-5-1 Right Clamp, and 7" AC-6-1 Right Clamp

This is a review of the AC-5-1 Right Clamp available at: Coffman Graphic Solutions

This clamp might well be used to hold bulkheads at a 90 degree to the keel, and when cementing/gluing deckhouses, cabin walls together.

The right clamp is one of many sizes that can be bought online at their website. The ones I ordered have a 4" clamping length capability. There is an aluminum right angle 3/4" by 3/4" by 1/16" by 5 7/8 long, and two 3/8" square brass tubes by 1/32" wall thickness by 5 7/8" long. The brass tubes are fastened to the aluminum right angle by 8-32 Phillips Head screws for adjustment within the range of the 5/8" opening. Cemented to the brass tubes are sponge rubber pads 1/4" by 3/8" by 4" long. These allow the user to clamp the work without damage..

There are two Brass Thumbscrews that allow the work to be clamped without the need for tools. There are cutout slots in the Aluminum right angle to allow glue to be applied to the work's inside corners. The design and execution of these tools are done very well, and allow the user to hold two parts at a 90 degree angle while glue/cement is applied.

I think it is a worthwhile addition to any toolbox for anyone who wants to do this task. The only thing I found that prevents me from giving this unit five stars, or ten stars, (depending on the measuring criteria) is the lack of proper deburring on the edges of the right angle and the brass tubes.

I have no commercial connection to this firm.

P.S. I also received a AC-6-1 Right Clamp (7" clamping capacity) for evaluation purposes. The construction is the same except for the lengths). And my review is the same. The only thing keeping the Clamps) from a 5 or 10 is the deburring of edges, which could cause discomfort and/or injury to the user.
